Palm Harbor, Florida – Montu Motors, an automotive importer specializing in Japanese classic cars, has become the first company to successfully import into the U.S. a 100% legal Nissan Skyline GTR R32.
Due to the specifications of certain governmental regulating agencies like the EPA, DOT, NHTSA, and FMVSS, historically it has been illegal to import the Nissan Skyline GTR R32 and numerous other high-performance Japanese cars. However, a stipulation states that any cars that are 25 years old or older are not required to abide by these regulations and can therefore be driven legally in the United States.
Montu Motors pulled up to the United States/Canada border in a Nissan Skyline GTR R32 at exactly midnight on August 1, 2014, making their crossing precisely 25 years after the vehicle left the factory in 1989. This classic racing car dominated competition for many years and is finally available to the American public.
Equipped with the RB26DETT, one of Nissan’s most popular motors, the Skyline GTR R32 offers performance, power, and speed. One of the most unique features of the Skyline GTR R32 is the ability to transfer up to 50% of the total power from the rear wheels to the front wheels.
