Modbus RTU (through serial connection) and Modbus TCP (through Ethernet networks) are often used in the crucial parts of industrial automation, substation automation, and building automation. Slow migration of communication standards from serial-based (RS-232, RS-485, and RS-422) devices to Ethernet-based devices demands smart converters.
Modbus gateway solutions are available with 1 to 16 serial ports and feature mounting options such as DIN-rail, field mount, or rack-mount. Entry-level products convert Modbus RTU to Modbus TCP and require almost no configuration.
Enhancements include harsh environment capability, vibration resistance, power- or serial-port isolation for equipment and device protection, and redundant power supplies. For critical applications, enhanced responsiveness is achieved through redundancy and concentrator functions.

The MGR5 series micro gripper weighs about 30g and can be used as an end effector on third-party robots. Developed to handle small, very fragile parts, such as the assembly of rotary encoders, it includes programmable force down to 5g and two independently controlled gripper fingers to pick up asymmetric parts.
The grippers support handling of parts too small or fragile to be effectively handled by humans. It also feeds back process information such as pick-up confirmation and positional data. A built-in sensor feedback system allows the grippers to perform a task and verify quality simultaneously.
